Call for Abstracts

You are invited to submit an abstract for the delivery of a presentation at the AES 2011 International Conference.

When submitting your abstract for the main conference program, please indicate the most relevant theme for your submission:

Presentation Options

The AES 2011 International Conference Organising Committee wishes to encourage the discussion of issues within sessions and so you should choose the type of session most appropriate to your particular contribution. Some presentations may need to be made in a format different from that originally proposed due to scheduling requirements. Where this is necessary, authors will be informed at the time of acceptance of their abstract. There are no refereed papers, but presenters are encouraged to submit a copy of their paper or presentation to the Evaluation Journal of Australasia for consideration for publication.

When submitting an abstract for the main Conference program, you may choose from the following presentation options.

Paper

The paper format will have about 20 minutes for presentation of the major ideas, arguments, evidence and conclusions, followed by up to 5 minutes for questions.

Symposium

Symposium presenters are allowed 40 minutes for symposium and 20 minutes for discussion. Within this framework the organiser can arrange the most suitable format, such as: symposium, debate or panel.

Roundtable

A roundtable presentation will enable up to 10 delegates to discuss the proposed topic over a 25 minute period. The proposer is to give an introduction of up to 10 minutes and provide a handout that will enable delegates to engage quickly with the major themes or issues to be focussed upon. This format will allow key issues to be explored with a small group. Presenters may also wish to consider running several small tables of discussants and should indicate this as an option when submitting their proposal.

Poster

Posters involve a short, visual presentation of the major focus, issues of concern, methods, findings and conclusions of the presentation. They allow all conference delegates to be reached and are particularly well suited to informal and in-depth interaction about the topic. Posters will be displayed in the Promotional Display area and there will be a time indicated next to the poster that the presenter will be available to answer questions about their poster.

Mini Workshop

A mini workshop is essentially a teaching/learning session dedicated to the attainment of specific objectives which have particular relevance to evaluation. Each Mini Workshop should run for 55 minutes and therefore must have a limited and well defined focus. A mini workshop might, for example, focus on developing competence in a particular skill or technique and its application, or enhancing knowledge of a specific aspect of evaluation.

Abstract and Justification Statement

Please provide the Title, an Abstract and a Justification Statement when submitting.

The Abstract and Justification Statement will be sent to reviewers for assessment and, if accepted, the presenting author may be asked to edit them before inclusion in the Conference Program.
